Singer Kim Jang-hoon shared some heartfelt advice with high school students who tried to get him to run a cigarette errand for them.
On the 21st, a video titled “What if a high schooler makes Kim Jang-hoon a cigarette shuttle” was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Gonarija’.
The production team set up a hidden camera prank where actors posing as high school students asked Kim Jang-hoon to buy them cigarettes. Kim Jang-hoon was incredibly sweet, telling the students who pretended to be fans, “Want a photo? I don’t care about portrait rights. Feel free to post it!” When they cautiously asked him to buy cigarettes, he gave a short laugh and asked, “Give me the money. What brand do you smoke?”
As the students tried to hand him a card, Kim Jang-hoon was genuinely surprised, saying, “I’ve seen everything now!” He then tried to buy them a meal first, saying, “You said you were going to eat, right? Let’s eat first.” He then tried to persuade them to quit, sharing, “I’ve smoked since the 3rd year of middle school. I’ve quit now, but… I’m not trying to be a ‘kkondae’ [stubborn old person], but do you have any thoughts on quitting? It’s so expensive. And the worst part is the smell. I smoked for 45 years before I quit.”

He added, “Legally, I’d get in trouble. I could go to jail. I’ve already survived a near-death experience after an accident.” He continued his sincere advice, warning, “I’m telling you this because I’m worried. If you don’t quit now, it’ll be uncomfortable when you date someone later, and people might avoid you.”
Even a passing citizen joined in before the production team stepped in to wrap things up. Even then, Kim Jang-hoon didn’t realize it was a prank and kept encouraging the students to quit. He stated, “Whether you quit or not is your choice, but buying them for you is illegal. It would be a big problem for both of us. I can’t buy them. I really hope you quit. I can’t force you, but please try to quit.”
After learning it was a hidden camera prank, Kim Jang-hoon shared, “I could understand their feelings. But I felt conflicted about buying the cigarettes or telling them to quit. I didn’t want to just send them away because they probably came to me thinking, ‘That hyung will understand us.'”
