Actress Kim Shin-rok has already made an overwhelming impression from her very first appearance in ‘Fifty Percent’!
MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Fifty Percent’ is an action black comedy following three men who were once at the top of their game as they search for the truth behind “that day,” which has been buried for 10 years on the remote island of Yeongseondo. Kim Shin-rok plays Prosecutor Kang Young-ae (Prosecutor Kang), who earned the nickname “Nongae” for her relentless drive to dig into every case until the very end. She completely captured viewers’ attention with her unique aura and captivating performance.
The first episode interestingly depicted the past in 2016, where a top-secret operation to uncover the truth behind NIS Deputy Director Han Kyung-wook (played by Kim Sang-kyung) ended in failure. This led black agent Jung Ho-myung (Shin Ha-kyun), North Korean agent Bulgae (Oh Jung-se), and fighter Kang Beom-ryong (Heo Sung-tae) to end up on Yeongseondo, living a rather pitiful daily life.
Amidst the fast-paced plot, Kim Shin-rok appeared as a powerful “cheat key,” instantly shifting the mood into a mystery thriller. Right after being demoted, Prosecutor Kang arrives at the scene of a woman’s death that seems ordinary on the surface, creating breathtaking tension as she scans the area with a sharp, keen eye.
After spotting evidence of disputes over noise between floors, Prosecutor Kang immediately visited the unit upstairs. There, she spotted a woman captured during a live broadcast and, combining the suspicious clues at the scene, instinctively realized that this was no simple suicide.
While the detectives were overly wary of her, Prosecutor Kang seemed to withdraw calmly, only to return to the scene that evening. After tenaciously tracking the mysterious traces she noticed during the day, she finally discovered a hidden secret location. The moment she faced a space filled with countless pieces of information, her shocked expression pushed the drama’s immersion to the max.
