Model and broadcaster Lee Hyun-yi is winning hearts by sharing the honest struggles and daily life of a working mom with children approaching puberty.
On May 23, a video titled “The story of almost crying because of a son approaching puberty…?” was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Working Mom Lee Hyun-yi’. In the video, Lee Hyun-yi and her husband shared a drink at a local pub, chatting naturally about parenting and education, capturing the realistic worries of a working mom.
Lee Hyun-yi shared updates on her kids, saying, “I was worried about my second child adjusting to elementary school, but he’s doing great,” and “My first child went on a three-day school trip to Buyeo.”
She then explained why she chose a private elementary school. Lee Hyun-yi revealed, “My husband also graduated from the same elementary school as the kids.” She added, “The question I get most often these days is, ‘Does your second child also attend Chung-Ang University Elementary School? Did he get in because he’s a sibling?’ Actually, there is no sibling preference at all. It’s a random lottery during the initial selection process.” She provided a realistic explanation to clear up misconceptions about the curriculum and admission process.

Her husband added to the description of the school’s atmosphere, noting that there are only three sets of siblings in the entire school.
Lee Hyun-yi also spoke honestly about the background of her choice. “Since I’m a working mom, private schools are a practical choice because they have later dismissal times,” she explained. She further noted, “Chung-Ang University Elementary School is famous for its rigorous academics, though every private school has a different approach. This school is math-focused and has great history classes.”
Her husband agreed, adding, “That’s right. They have to get a Hanja certification every year. It’s very goal-oriented,” explaining the characteristics of the school’s education system.
Meanwhile, model Lee Hyun-yi is married to Hong Seong-gi, a semiconductor development engineer at Samsung Electronics, and they have two sons. The Chung-Ang University Elementary School that their sons attend is known as one of the prestigious private schools, with annual tuition reportedly reaching about 10 million won.
