KyoungSeo’s new track “Instead of Words,” an OST for the novel “A Wonderful Escape,” was released on all music sites on May 17.
This single is a real-life recording of a song written by Dorothy, a singer-songwriter character in the novel “A Wonderful Escape” by author Na Sang-cheon, who is a former K-pop planner.
The lyrics, which previously existed only as text in the novel, have been paired with a lyrical melody and KyoungSeo’s emotional vocals. The song that once sparked readers’ imaginations has now become a reality, creating a buzz among both readers and music fans.
With KyoungSeo’s voice leading the way, “Instead of Words” adds a wonderful auditory experience to the reading pleasure of “A Wonderful Escape.”
Meanwhile, “A Wonderful Escape,” published on April 22, is a story set along the 800km Camino de Santiago pilgrimage in Spain. It follows the journeys of four characters with different stories: Chef Kims, a middle-aged chef starting a new life after losing his wife; Dorothy, an aspiring singer-songwriter who has faced the bitterness of failed auditions; Roger, a YouTuber on a nearly impossible mission to reach 330,000 subscribers; and Junsang, a 21-year-old youth hiding away with a heavy secret. Over 33 days of walking the same path, they face the wounds they were running away from and experience healing and change.
The novel was written by Na Sang-cheon, a K-pop planner, playwright, and novelist, based on his own experiences of completing the Camino de Santiago twice in 2023 and 2024.
Author Na is also developing a musical titled “Caminante” based on the novel. Following a number showcase in February, the official production is aimed for release in the second half of next year.
