Lee Jae-won, IU’s On-Screen Brother, to Join Jung Hae-in as Classmate in Netflix’s ‘Such a Shitty Love’

Actor Lee Jae-won is keeping his momentum going with a new role in the Netflix series ‘Such a Shitty Love’.

According to Newsen on May 13, Lee Jae-won has been cast in the role of Ahn Ki-jun.

‘Such a Shitty Love’ is a romantic comedy that depicts the intense cohabitation of Go Eun-sae (played by Ha Young), a prosecutor suffering from amnesia, and Jang Tae-ha (played by Jung Hae-in), a boxing coach who insists he is her boyfriend. The series is directed by Kim Jang-han, who previously helmed SBS’s ‘Brahms: The First Beautiful Melody’ and ‘My Demon’, and written by Mo Ji-hye, who reunites with Director Kim for the first time in four years since Wavve’s ‘You Raise Me Up’.

Lee Jae-won is set to showcase a new side of his acting as Ahn Ki-jun, a neuropsychiatrist and high school classmate of Jang Tae-ha.

Since his debut in the 2008 film ‘Public Enemy 1-1’, Lee Jae-won has proven his acting skills in numerous projects, including the film ‘The Man from Nowhere’, tvN’s ‘Record of Youth’, ‘Mr. Queen’, Apple TV+’s ‘Dr. Brain’, Genie TV’s ‘Can We Be Strangers?’, and KBS’s ‘Drama Special 2023-Polar Night’. In particular, he received a lot of love from viewers as a cheerful supporter in JTBC’s ‘Welcome to Samdal-ri’ and ‘The Tale of Lady Ok’, establishing himself as a ‘trusted actor’.

He is currently making a strong impression in the MBC Friday-Saturday drama ’21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife’, which is a hit with a peak viewership rating of 13.3% (Nielsen Korea nationwide). In the series, he plays Seong Tae-ju, the eldest son of Castle Group and the half-brother of Seong Hee-joo (played by IU).
