Lim Ji-yeon is aiming to become a “Meme Star” once again, following her previous hits like the “Possession Meme,” “Mukbang Girl,” and “Taekwondo Girl.”
In the SBS Friday-Saturday drama Wonderful New World, Lim Ji-yeon showcased a “Kim Du-han action show” in the episode aired on the 15th. The drama is a high-tension comedy featuring Shin Seo-ri (Lim Ji-yeon), an unknown actress who becomes fierce after being possessed by the soul of a notorious Joseon villainess, and Cha Se-gye (Heo Nam-jun), a chaebol known as a monster born of capitalism.
The ratings for the third episode reached a peak of 6.7% according to Nielsen Korea, showing another increase compared to previous episodes.
The third episode focused on Shin Seo-ri’s journey to find her dream of acting. In one scene, while working part-time at a mart, Seo-ri gets fired up by Yoon Ji-hyo’s (Lee Se-hee) acting on TV and delivers an impressive method acting performance as a Queen.
The episode ended with Cha Se-gye establishing “BOJ Enter” and recruiting Seo-ri, leaving viewers curious about what happens next.
Meanwhile, the production team released stills of Shin Seo-ri transformed into Kim Du-han. The images capture everything from Seo-ri’s determined expression and clenched fists to her facing off against several men.
Seo-ri’s movements as she takes down opponents nearly twice her size are an homage to Kim Du-han clearing out street thugs. Her action, inspired by the drama Rustic Period, provided plenty of laughs as she seemed possessed by Kim Du-han.
The production team hinted that this scene will be a “killing point,” following the viral “Jang Hee-bin possession meme.” Director Han Tae-seop noted that the scene in episode 4 where Seo-ri is possessed by Kim Du-han is definitely one of the top three comic highlights of Lim Ji-yeon’s performance.
The fourth episode of SBS’s Wonderful New World, starring Lim Ji-yeon, airs today (16th) at 9:50 PM.
