Lee Yong-woo, a cast member of JTBC’s ‘My Sibling’s Romance’, has revealed a surprising side of his daily life.
In a recent episode of the SBS current affairs program ‘News Story’, an update was shared on Lee Yong-woo, who gained huge popularity appearing on a JTBC real dating show. Lee Yong-woo opened up, saying, “My mother jokingly told me, ‘I heard there’s a term called full-time child.’ When I looked into it, I realized it was exactly my story.”
‘Full-time child’ is a newly coined term referring to children who take over the household chores while their family members are at work. Having managed the home for two years, Lee Yong-woo started his morning by doing the dishes. Standing over 180cm tall, he caught attention by explaining that the low sink even caused him to develop a herniated disc in his back.
While cooking, doing laundry, and cleaning, the production team asked, “How many hours a day do you think you spend on housework?” He replied, “I love the program ‘Three Meals a Day,’ and I realized that doing three meals a day takes up the entire day. I didn’t understand it before, but now that I’m doing it, time just flies by.”
A graduate of the Physical Education department at a famous university in Seoul, he gave up his dream of becoming a teacher and moved to the US to obtain a pilot’s license, but found the job market to be very competitive. Lee Yong-woo added, “I can’t even remember how many applications I sent. I think I applied to domestic airlines about 100 times. There’s a term called ‘flight ronin’ for those who have the license but find it difficult to get hired by an airline, and there are more people in that situation than you’d think.”

He shared that he had to stop his life as a job seeker, noting that the money he earned from appearing on broadcasts was only enough for transportation, not for living independently. He calmly mentioned that he has been creating content and attending an acting academy for a year. After finishing his daily routine, he surprised viewers by grocery shopping with his mother’s card to prepare dinner.
Lee Yong-woo’s mother said, “It’s a bit heartbreaking to see him volunteer as a full-time housewife without leaving the house.” Lee Yong-woo added, “My mother and younger sister work outside all day, so I’m doing this while staying home so I don’t get scolded,” which drew sympathy from viewers.

Meanwhile, although Lee Yong-woo became a final couple with cast member Kim Ji-won on the 2024 JTBC show ‘My Sibling’s Romance’, it is reported that they did not continue their relationship as a couple in real life.
