The highly anticipated film ‘It Can’t Be Helped’ has officially taken home the coveted Best Film award!
The 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards lit up COEX D Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the evening of the 8th. The beloved trio Shin Dong-yup, Suzy, and Park Bo-gum returned to host the prestigious event.
The competition for Best Film was fierce, with ‘3rd Grade, 2nd Semester’, ‘Good News’, ‘Master of the World’, ‘It Can’t Be Helped’, and ‘The Man Who Lives with a King’ all vying for the top honor. Ultimately, the grand prize went to ‘It Can’t Be Helped’, helmed by none other than director Park Chan-wook!
Director Park Chan-wook celebrated this incredible win alongside stars Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, Lee Sung-min, and Yum Hye-ran.

Director Park Chan-wook, ever the wit, playfully remarked, “I want to thank the judges. Seeing these results, I’m absolutely convinced that the judging was incredibly fair!”
He then turned to Yum Hye-ran, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, and humorously added, “Yum Hye-ran might not agree, but please understand. Shin Se-kyung (‘Humint’) also did a fantastic job!”
Director Park explained his playful demeanor, stating, “While I’m making lighthearted jokes at such a prestigious event, the film ‘It Can’t Be Helped’ itself is a work brimming with humor.”
Director Park Chan-wook shared his philosophy, saying, “I believe it’s essential to constantly try to make jokes, even when you’re angry or sad, and to make self-deprecating jokes to bring laughter to those around you.” He added, “That’s how you can release the steam of anger and sadness and find a way out.”
He wrapped up his acceptance speech with a classic self-deprecating joke, adding, “Even though I’m a director who didn’t win at the Venice Film Festival and wasn’t even nominated for an Academy Award, please trust my words, as I am now part of the glorious Baeksang Best Film production team!”
