In the newly released pictorial, Park Jin-young captured everyone’s attention with his signature deep gaze and sophisticated mood. Ahead of the release of his first solo album since completing his military service, he left the staff in awe with his more mature visuals and sensory vibe.
During the interview, Park Jin-young opened up about his thoughts and affection for his new album, “Said & Done”. Explaining the title, he said, “Rather than an end, it feels like a comma to continue the next sentence.” He added, “For the past three to four years, I’ve been asking myself, ‘What do I like?’ and worked by following my honest emotions, just like someone starting music for the first time.”
The album features a wide range of genres, from 90s vibes to dream pop and R&B. Regarding this, Park Jin-young shared, “Since the starting point of being an idol is to show various colors, I felt there was no need to limit myself to a single genre.”
He also expressed excitement about collaborating with producer Gurum, DAY6’s Wonpil, and singer-songwriter Choi Yu-ree, stating, “Through the process, it was interesting to discover new voices within myself that I didn’t even know existed.”
He mentioned that growing up in the countryside as a child also influenced his sensibilities. “Whether it’s acting or music, instead of insisting on a correct answer, unexpected great results come when I surrender to the emotions of the moment on set,” he said, adding, “I’m learning to have a more flexible sense through music.”
The reactions of his GOT7 members were also revealed. Park Jin-young laughed, recalling, “The members were teasing me on SNS, tagging me as ‘Dance Singer Jinyoung’.” He shared their special bond, saying, “Since we’re like family, they send me a calm trust, like ‘he’ll do well,’ rather than grand feedback.”
He wrapped up the interview with a heartfelt wish: “Even after a very long time, I want to remain someone who was truly interesting and someone people stay curious about.”
Meanwhile, the June issue of ‘WWD Korea’ featuring Park Jin-young will be released with two different covers and can be found at major online bookstores. Making-of films and additional content will also be released sequentially via WWD Korea’s official SNS.
