Singer Paul Kim, entertainer Gabee, and announcer Heo Yu-won are stepping up as the new DJs for KBS Cool FM, each bringing their own unique color to meet the listeners. The three shared their thoughts on their first DJ challenge and the direction of their programs at the KBS Radio reorganization press conference held on the 11th.
The KBS Cool FM (Metropolitan area 89.1MHz) reorganization press conference took place on the 11th at the Kong Studio on the 2nd floor of the KBS main building.
The event was attended by DJs Paul Kim and Gabee, announcer Heo Yu-won, CP Kim Hong-beom, and PDs Oh Gwi-na, Kwon Ye-ji, and Hong A-ram.

Paul Kim, who will be hosting “Paul Kim’s Music Square,” shared, “I was hoping a radio DJ offer would come my way.” He added with a laugh, “I expected an evening slot, but it’s meaningful that I’ll be on at 12 PM. I’m a morning person, so it’s the perfect time to wake up and head to work.”
He continued, “I wondered if I could match the high energy of the previous DJ, Lee Eun-ji, but my style is calm yet energetic.” He expressed his determination, saying, “I’ll work hard to make sure listeners don’t fall asleep during their lunch break and can get back to their work.”
The production team also highlighted Paul Kim’s comfortable atmosphere as a strength. CP Kim Hong-beom explained, “There were concerns that listeners might doze off because of Paul Kim, but in reality, he is a very lighthearted and active person. In musical terms, he has the charm of a mid-tempo dance song.” PD Oh Gwi-na also expressed high expectations, noting, “As the only male DJ in that time slot with high musical recognition, he will be able to showcase both his musicality and variety sense.”
Paul Kim confessed, “Now that I’ve taken on the role of a radio DJ, I hear other DJs’ hosting in a completely different way. I keep thinking about what I would say if I were in their position.” He joked, “I think the highlight of the first broadcast will be whether I put the listeners to sleep or wake them up.”
He also showed his ambition for guests. Paul Kim sent a public love call, saying, “I don’t have a boast-worthy network, but if BTS’s V could come on once, I could bow toward V’s house every morning.” He brought laughter to the room by adding, “Please contact me when you’re too bored and have nothing to do.”

Gabee, selected as the new DJ for “Super Radio,” shared her bold ambition: “I’ve always wanted to be a radio DJ. I’ll work hard and have fun to shake things up in the competitive 2 PM to 4 PM slot.”
She emphasized, “Not many people my age listen to the radio, so I hope to be the starting point for attracting younger listeners. I believe listeners will enjoy it if I’m enjoying it. I’ll tell everyday stories in Gabee’s own funky way.”
Regarding the pressure of succeeding Haha, she made the venue burst into laughter by saying, “Raising the energy is already like an automated system built into my body. It’s actually harder for me to lower the energy.” She added, “I’ve already been trained by being a guest on senior Park Myung-soo’s radio for a long time.”
Gabee mentioned that she wants to invite Beyonce as a guest one day, and the production team asked for anticipation, saying, “Gabee loves ‘taming’ introverted guests, so we are preparing various introverted guests.”
She also shared a special goal, saying, “I want it to be a radio people listen to when they want to laugh. I really want to hear someone say, ‘I started listening to the radio for the first time because of Unnie.’ I’ll create a radio that connects to the next generation.”

Announcer Heo Yu-won, who will host “Heo Yu-won’s Refreshing Morning,” expressed her excitement: “I became an announcer with the dream of becoming a DJ. I’ve been saying I wanted to do radio since I joined the company, so I’m grateful for this result.”
She stated her ambition, “I want to create a radio filled with young, pretty, and refreshing energy. Even though it’s early dawn, I’ll make sure people can start their day cheerfully.”
CP Kim Hong-beom spoke about the direction of the reorganization, saying, “As listening habits change rapidly, the charm of real-time communication in radio will grow. I look forward to KBS Cool FM doing even better with the new DJs.”
Meanwhile, “Paul Kim’s Music Square,” “Gabee’s Super Radio,” and “Heo Yu-won’s Refreshing Morning” will first air on the 11th at 12 PM, 2 PM, and 5 AM respectively. They can be heard via KBS Cool FM (Metropolitan frequency FM 89.1MHz), the radio app “KBS Kong,” and “KBS Plus.”
