Trot singer Pyun Seung-yeop, who debuted 36 years ago, is set to reveal the secret story behind the mega-hit song ‘Chan Chan Chan’ on MBN’s ‘Kim Ju-ha’s Day & Night’.
In the 25th episode of MBN’s ‘Kim Ju-ha’s Day & Night’ airing on the 16th, Pyun Seung-yeop shares how he visited star trot composer Lee Ho-seop to debut as an authentic trot singer. Upon hearing Lee Ho-seop playing ‘Chan Chan Chan’ on the piano without any lyrics, he instinctively felt, “Ah, this is my song!” Furthermore, Pyun confesses that he wasn’t actually the original intended owner of ‘Chan Chan Chan’, sparking curiosity about who the song was originally for.
Pyun is also surprised to learn about the special bond he shared with composer Lee Ho-seop during his days as an unknown singer, which eventually led to ‘Chan Chan Chan’. Interest is peaking as Pyun emotionally remarks, “The truth has been revealed after 34 years.”

Specifically, Pyun recalls his legendary peak, confessing, “By today’s standards, I earned over 100 million won a day!” thanks to ‘Chan Chan Chan’, which dominated the trot charts for three years. He also mentions that the song didn’t receive much attention immediately after its release in 1992 but became a massive hit a year later, admitting, “I earned it so easily that I took it for granted at the time.”
The production team shared, “Pyun Seung-yeop is truly someone who was born to be a singer.”
