“Resign if You Mess Up the World Cup!” Lee Kyung-kyu Gives Intense Training to Youngest Caster Nam Hyun-jong on ‘Boss in the Mirror’

Lee Kyung-kyu is starting some serious special training for Nam Hyun-jong, who will be handling the World Cup broadcast!

In the KBS 2TV episode of ‘Boss in the Mirror’ airing on the 17th, the “Godfather of Variety” Lee Kyung-kyu (65), who has brought the heat from every World Cup since 2002, passes down his top-tier broadcasting know-how to Nam Hyun-jong (32), the youngest person ever selected as a main caster for the ‘2026 North and Central America World Cup.’

Lee Kyung-kyu kicks things off with a chilling command: “Resign if you mess up the World Cup!” While Nam Hyun-jong was momentarily shaken, he quickly regained his composure, declaring, “I will approach this with the mindset that this is my first and last chance.”

Lee Kyung-kyu then encouraged him, saying, “This is your chance. If you do well, you’ll be on an upward curve.” He surprised Nam Hyun-jong by pointing out a key secret: “You have to catch the wind.” He explained that a caster needs to know how to push and pull the tension with their commentary, breathing along with the crowd during the most nerve-wracking moments, such as right before a goal.

Drawing from decades of experience, Lee Kyung-kyu poured out realistic advice, telling him, “You need to put more emotion into it” and “You can’t beat someone who truly loves soccer.” Nam Hyun-jong seemed to have a major epiphany, nodding along throughout.

Then, Lee Kyung-kyu called in Jun Hyun-moo! Showing his support as a senior, he told him, “Hyun-moo, come and do the broadcast too. Help your junior, Hyun-jong.”

After receiving special training from Lee Kyung-kyu and gaining the support of Jun Hyun-moo, all eyes are on whether Nam Hyun-jong can soar at the World Cup despite being the youngest caster.
