A heartbreaking story of a couple who refuse to let go of each other’s hands despite a tragic situation will be revealed.
In the first part of the MBC variety show ‘Oh Eun Young Report – Again, Love’, airing Monday, May 18 at 9 PM, the story of a terminally ill wife and her husband, who became a hot topic online as the ‘PUBG Couple’, will be shared.
The ‘PUBG Couple’ are the protagonists of a story where the husband recruited users online to “intentionally let the wife kill them” in the game for his game-loving, terminally ill wife. Their hidden daily lives, which gained attention when numerous gamers voluntarily participated, will be revealed on the show.
After five years of marriage, the couple faced a devastating blow: the wife was diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer. The husband shared the shocking news, stating, “Seven months after giving birth to their second child, my wife visited the emergency room due to abdominal pain and was diagnosed with stomach cancer that had metastasized to the peritoneum.” He added, “80% of the large intestine had necrotized, and the organs were hardened like stones.” Recalling the diagnosis, he mentioned there were no warning signs before the ER visit, and the doctor told him that treatment was beyond human capability and that her final moments could be any day.
The husband confessed that after the game event ended, he withdrew the waiver for life-sustaining treatment after hearing his wife say, “I want to live.” However, her condition is worsening daily, and she has been relying on narcotic painkillers for three months amidst repeated surgeries and pain. The wife added to the heartbreak by calmly sharing the extreme pain of her battle, saying, “It would be better to be born anew.”
A tense moment occurred during filming when the wife had to undergo an emergency procedure. The studio was moved to tears as the husband sobbed outside the procedure room, pleading, “Please hold on, stay strong.”
MCs Jang Dong Min and Moon Se Yoon couldn’t hold back their tears, and Dr. Oh Eun Young also sobbed, expressing her heartache for the couple by saying, “Not every couple can do this,” and “I hope with all my heart that a miracle happens.”
In celebration of Family Month, the current affairs and education department has teamed up to present the ‘Love’ series in two parts. The first part of MBC’s ‘Oh Eun Young Report – Again, Love’ will air Monday, May 18 at 9 PM.
