Broadcaster and U.S. lawyer Seo Dong-ju has shared her deep emotions after hosting her first-ever solo art exhibition, coming amidst the heartbreak of a miscarriage.
On the 11th, Seo Dong-ju took to her SNS, posting several photos with the caption, “Yesterday, the first solo exhibition of my life,

In the photos, Seo Dong-ju is seen posing throughout the gallery wearing a floral pattern dress and a denim jacket. The atmosphere of celebration was heightened by the abundance of bouquets and potted plants surrounding the stairs. Other photos show her smiling in front of artworks blending colorful flowers and animals, while the stylish prop paintings on the walls also caught the eye.

Seo Dong-ju opened up about her history with art, saying, “I entered Yewon Middle School for art and also started at Wellesley College for art, but after transferring to the mathematics department at MIT, art eventually remained in my life under the name of a ‘hobby.’ It existed as something I’d just doodle with a pencil or draw on an iPad.”
She continued, “Perhaps it stayed quietly with me for a long time, not even in second place, but maybe around fifth place in my life.” She added, “I picked up the brush again three years ago, and as I began painting on canvas, it felt as though art had finally found its place.” Expressing her love for the craft, she shared, “I want to live my life continuing to paint so that my palette doesn’t end up tucked away in a corner for a long time again.”

Seo Dong-ju didn’t forget to express her gratitude, stating, “Many people came to congratulate me yesterday and cherished my paintings as if they were their own children. I was so grateful that I couldn’t think of anything other than saying thank you.”
Born in 1983, Seo Dong-ju married in 2010 but divorced four years later. She remarried last June to a husband four years her junior. While undergoing IVF treatment for infertility, Seo Dong-ju recently shared the news that she had suffered a missed miscarriage.
