Comedian Seo Kyung-seok has confessed to starting his journey as an idol fan, all for the sake of his adolescent daughter!
On the May 13 broadcast of MBC’s variety show ‘Radio Star’ (Episode 965), Seo Kyung-seok appeared as a guest alongside Choi Tae-sung, Kim Sung-eun, and Hwang Min-ho.
Sharing that his daughter is currently in her second year of middle school, Seo Kyung-seok revealed that he began watching music shows and studying idols to better communicate with her. He mentioned, “When I was hosting ‘Women’s Generation,’ I listened closely to a segment called ‘Our Child Is Fine.’ It said that when a child hits puberty and you react with ‘Why are you like this?’ or ‘How could you do this after all I’ve done for you,’ it only pushes them further away. It advised that fathers should study what their children love.”
The idol group Seo Kyung-seok began liking for his daughter was ZEROBASEONE. He shared, “My daughter’s favorite team is ZEROBASEONE, so I started stanning them too. I even joined the 2nd generation fan club and became an official member.”
When Kim Gura asked if he genuinely likes the group or is just trying to bond with his daughter, Seo admitted, “I started because of my child, but I fell for them too. They are a wonderful team. I’ve even been to three concerts with my daughter!”
Seo Kyung-seok also touched upon the recent changes within the group, noting that some members re-debuted as AND2BLE. “My daughter’s bias moved to AND2BLE, Kim Gyuvin. As for me, I like Matthew and Gunwook. Since Gunwook likes Korean history, I even gifted him a book,” he revealed.
For those who missed it, ZEROBASEONE was formed through the Mnet audition program ‘Boys Planet’ and debuted in July 2023. Following their concert on March 15, 2026, the group’s activities for Zhang Hao, Ricky, Kim Gyuvin, and Han Yujin came to an end, transitioning the group from nine members to five. The current lineup consists of Sung Hanbin, Kim Jiwoong, Seok Matthew, Kim Taerae, and Park Gunwook.
Meanwhile, Zhang Hao, Ricky, Kim Gyuvin, and Han Yujin are set to re-debut on May 26 as AND2BLE, alongside Yoo Seung-eon from the group EVNNE.
