Seriously… There’s No Other ‘Insanely Beautiful’ Band Like LUCY [Review]

It was truly an insane performance. With melodies that pierced the ears, explosive playing that seemed to swallow the stage, and the manic energy of the four members fully immersed in the music, LUCY filled the KSPO DOME—their first time performing there since debut—with their own unique sensibility and passion, blending beauty and madness.

Seriously... There's No Other 'Insanely Beautiful' Band Like LUCY [Review]

The show was overwhelming from the start. As Shin Ye-chan’s violin melody flowed over a stage cast in giant shadows, Cho Won-sang’s bass and Shin Kwang-il’s drums joined in. The moment Choi Sang-yeop appeared in the center and the four members gathered at the front, the KSPO DOME instantly became LUCY’s own island.

During the performance of ‘Hero,’ childhood photos of the members and colorful confetti added to the emotion. It was a moment that made everyone immediately feel why LUCY is called the ‘youth band.’

After the opening, the members shared their feelings. Cho Won-sang expressed his excitement, saying, “LUCY has finally entered the Gymnastics Arena [KSPO DOME],” while Choi Sang-yeop credited the fans, saying, “We came to KSPO DOME thanks to you.” He added, “Along with entering KSPO DOME, this is our first full-group stage in a long time. It took a year and a half waiting for Kwang-il,” which sparked loud cheers from the crowd.

In ‘Hot,’ the immersion was heightened with a structure starting with Shin Kwang-il’s vocals and leading into Choi Sang-yeop’s. Shin Ye-chan and Cho Won-sang moved across the left and right sides of the stage respectively, while Choi Sang-yeop and Shin Kwang-il led the performance from the center. It was a moment where the charm of the band’s ensemble exploded. In particular, Shin Kwang-il’s moving band car, reportedly costing as much as a car, caught everyone’s attention with its strong presence throughout the show. In the following song ‘Opening,’ the audience spontaneously turned on their phone flashes, coloring the venue like a night sky, and in ‘Villain,’ Choi Sang-yeop’s explosive vocals swept through the arena.

The sequence of ‘Play,’ ‘What About Love,’ and ‘When the Dawn Breaks’ maximized LUCY’s signature refreshing vibe. Notably, for ‘When the Dawn Breaks,’ they performed up to the second verse, which wasn’t available in the OST version, drawing enthusiastic cheers from fans.

The solo stages in the middle of the concert clearly showcased each member’s color. Shin Kwang-il revealed the charm of his heavy low-tone vocals through ‘Gugu-jeoljeol,’ and Shin Ye-chan put down his guitar to deliver a sweet sensibility with a calm rendition of ‘Little Star.’ Choi Sang-yeop appeared in a soccer uniform to perform ‘Little Star’ refreshingly, and Cho Won-sang took the stage alone to prove his presence with a sharp falsetto.

The latter half was literally a parade of hit songs. ‘Chameleon,’ which started with intense lasers, instantly turned the venue into a rock festival, and during ‘Ani Geunde Jinjja,’ the entire audience stood up as if planned to deliver an explosive sing-along. In ‘A Certain Day in the 21st Century,’ the heat reached its peak as the audience jumped and sang along.

The highlight was definitely Shin Ye-chan’s violin performance in ‘Goblin Dance,’ where he wore a goblin mask. Shin Ye-chan moved freely across the stage with a soulful performance, and the raw, powerful violin sound instantly ignited the excitement of the crowd. The stage, blending Korean colors, rock sounds, and performance, maximized LUCY’s unrivaled charm.

Toward the end, Choi Sang-yeop shared his emotions, saying, “I get nervous and worried every time I prepare for a concert, but when I actually sing with you, it feels like happiness is floating in this space. We are enjoying this performance as much as you are.” He expressed his gratitude again, recalling, “I remember our first concert was at Blue Square. Back then, we didn’t have many of our own songs, so we did a lot of covers. I’m truly grateful that we can share happiness with more people in such a large venue now.”
