Actor Shin Sung-rok has offered a sincere apology to his audience and colleagues following casting changes in the musical ‘Swing Days_Code Name A’. On the 12th, Shin took to his personal account to express his regret for the disruption caused by his health struggles.

“First, I am sincerely sorry and ashamed for causing inconvenience to so many people because I didn’t manage my health well,” Shin began. He continued, “I am truly grateful and sorry to the audience members who took the time to wait for the show, my fellow cast members, and seniors Yoo Jun-sang and Park Eun-tae, who stepped in for me on stage.”
The reason for the cancellation was acute laryngitis. Shin shared his heartache, saying, “I had to cancel the performance because I had a high fever and lost my voice due to acute laryngitis. This show is so precious to me, so it really hurts my heart.” He reassured fans by adding, “Fortunately, I am improving a lot, and I will see you all in a healthy state at the next performance.”

The production company had previously announced casting changes several times starting from the 7th due to Shin’s health. They apologized, stating, “We did our best to manage his condition before the performance, but a sudden decline made the change inevitable. We bow our heads in apology for the inconvenience caused by the same-day casting changes.” On the 11th, fellow actors including Yoo Jun-sang stepped in to fill his role.
In the musical ‘Swing Days_Code Name A’, Shin Sung-rok delivers a powerful performance as Yoo Il-hyung. The production is inspired by the life of the late Dr. Yoo Il-han, an independence activist and the founder of Yuhan Corporation. Shin leads the play as a complex character who evolves from a businessman secretly supporting the independence movement into a dedicated activist.

While musical fans are sad to see him temporarily leave the stage due to this unexpected illness, they are showering him with support and wishing him a speedy recovery. Known for his strict self-discipline, fans are empathizing with the guilt and responsibility he must be feeling.
After getting some much-needed rest, Shin Sung-rok is expected to return to the stage and bring back the charisma of Yoo Il-hyung.
