Shinhwa member and actor Kim Dong-wan has once again shared his honest convictions without holding back.
On the 10th, Kim Dong-wan posted on his account, “Looking through the comments, I occasionally come across some truly enlightened people. It’s true. No one’s life should be judged carelessly.” He shared a screenshot of a netizen’s comment that read, “There’s no need to bash Yoo Tung. Everyone lives their own life. Just look at Mimi’s smiling face now. She looks happy.” This comment was found on a recently re-edited highlight video of entertainer Yoo Tung from the 2024 MBN program ‘Special World’.
Yoo Tung is well-known for having married and divorced eight times. It appears Kim Dong-wan is criticizing those who judge Yoo Tung and his life based on their own standards, expressing concern over judging others’ lives arbitrarily. Some netizens agreed with him, leaving comments like, “You just have to live by your own convictions regardless of what others say,” “We haven’t been in Yoo Tung’s shoes, so there’s no need to curse him,” and “Speaking about another person’s life is a scary thing to do.”
However, Kim Dong-wan has often found himself at the center of heated debates due to his outspoken nature on sensitive issues. For instance, he sparked controversy in February when sharing his views on prostitution. At the time, he argued, “Trying to get rid of red-light districts is making the whole country a red-light district,” adding, “It should be acknowledged and managed. We shouldn’t just cover it up while ignoring the reality of the increasing number of single-person households.” When some netizens expressed concerns about legalization, he stood his ground, stating, “The reason I believe it should be legalized is that there are people who cannot survive without it. It’s also for the sake of disease control,” insisting that prostitution should be legally managed and operated.
