Son Yeo-eun Opens Up About Being a Total Introvert and Finding Healing in Piano!

Actress Son Yeo-eun shared a glimpse into her daily life of healing through music.

On the afternoon of the 8th, an interview was held with Son Yeo-eun, who appeared in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama ‘Shin-irang Law Firm’, at CLN Company in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

‘Shin-irang Law Firm’ is a drama depicting a mysterious yet warm adventure of ‘possessed lawyer’ Shin Irang (played by Yoo Yeon-seok), who refreshingly resolves the grudges of the deceased, and ‘cold elite lawyer’ Han Na-hyun (played by Lee Som), who will do anything to win a case.

In the series, Son Yeo-eun played the role of Shin Sa-rang, the older sister who silently protects her younger brother Irang, who is destined to be a lawyer who sees ghosts.

Son Yeo-eun filmed ‘Shin-irang Law Firm’ and tvN’s ‘Spring Fever’ simultaneously, traveling between Pohang and Seoul for the shoots.

Playing the role of Sun Hee-yeon, who holds the key to a twist in ‘Spring Fever’, Son Yeo-eun said, “I thought Hee-yeon was charming. She was a bad woman, but she had her own story.” She added, “Even though the works had completely different vibes, the styling and atmosphere of ‘Spring Fever’ were so different that I think I adapted immediately upon arriving at the set.”

Revealing that she is currently preparing for her next project, Son Yeo-eun shared, “I’ve played many diverse characters. Still, I love roles that allow me to challenge myself. Just as the range of villain roles is very wide, I want to try many unique roles as well.”

As a piano major, YouTube is one of Son Yeo-eun’s precious ways of communicating by uploading performance videos. She expressed her affection, saying, “I uploaded a video yesterday. I just got feedback asking me to play the OST of ‘Shin-irang Law Firm’. If people leave requests like that, I sometimes reflect them in my piano performances. It’s also fun to recreate pop songs.”

Having run her YouTube channel since 2019, she explained, “I didn’t start with a grand ambition or a set plan for how to build the channel. My goal was to communicate with people who like the music I’m good at and enjoy, and that remains unchanged. I think I can do it consistently because I’m doing something I love.”

She also mentioned that she was happy to communicate with viewers through live broadcasts, though they are currently on hiatus. “The concept was talking to help people fall asleep. Since I majored in classics, I introduced classical music in an easy way and covered various topics. 100 minutes might seem long, but as I kept doing it, I often felt like there wasn’t enough time. I’d love to be a radio DJ if I get the chance.”

Last March, she released her original piano composition album ‘Ever – A Quiet Hope’.

Regarding this, she teased more musical activities, saying, “I never thought I’d release the pieces I wrote as sketches to the world. I plan to release one song that fits the season in summer and autumn, and gradually bring out the pieces I’ve written.”

During her time off, she described herself as a ‘homebody’ who relaxes by watching movies and dramas, adding, “Just pressing a single note that I want is healing in itself.” She honestly confessed, “I totally related to the comments about being an introvert that Shin Hye-sun made (on tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block’). I need to rest at home. I envy people who relieve stress through hobbies. Isn’t that living an active life? I’ve never lived a life like that (laughs).”

Having been in the industry for over 20 years since her debut, she shared, “Rather than setting goals, I live with a fluttering heart, looking forward to the future. When I set things in stone, they often turn out differently than I imagined. I think the excitement and anticipation have grown more by leaving the path open. I’m living happily, enjoying every moment.”

When asked what she is most looking forward to right now, she smiled brightly and said, “Isn’t today Parents’ Day? After my schedule ends, I should meet my mom and buy her something delicious.”

Meanwhile, ‘Shin-irang Law Firm’, starring Son Yeo-eun, ended on the 2nd.
