Song Il-gook appeared as a guest on the MBN variety show “Kim Ju-ha’s Day & Night” aired on the 23rd, where he shared some candid stories about his life.
During the episode, Song Il-gook surprised everyone by revealing, “Viewers are being fooled. People call me a patriot, but that is not true at all. I caused my mother a lot of heartache and was quite a troublemaker.”
He caused a stir on set by sharing, “I had 31 days of absences in high school. Back then, three tardies counted as one absence. I would occasionally go to school just during lunch to eat my lunch box and then leave. I hope my kids don’t see this.”

He further added with a laugh, “Once I grew up, I felt I should graduate from college, so I re-entered and finally graduated 12 years later.”
Song Il-gook also drew attention by expressing his deep gratitude toward his mother, Kim Eul-dong. He shared, “My mother raised me without nagging my whole life. It wasn’t because she didn’t care, but because she always believed in me. I think that is why I am who I am today. She supported and trusted me no matter what I did. If she hadn’t, I might be in prison right now, or I might have met my wife somewhere else.”
