A Heartbreaking 1984 Case: Wife Murdered While Waiting for Husband, Leaving Cast of 'Hyeong-su-da 2' Furious

‘Hyeong-su-da’ Season 2 is sending shockwaves through viewers as it tracks the full story of a brutal murder that took place in a small single room in the dead of night.

In episode 39 of E Channel’s original web variety show ‘Hyeong-su-da’ Season 2 (hereafter ‘Hyeong-su-da 2’), airing May 8th at 7 PM on the YouTube channel ‘Detectives’ Chat’, former judge lawyer Jung Jae-min and Kim Nam-il shed light on a tragic murder case from 1984.

This episode features the ‘News No Desk’ segment, which covers real-life cases that weren’t fully disclosed in the news. The case began early one morning in 1984 when a brother-in-law reported that his sister was found dead at home.

The husband was the first to discover her. While she usually kept the lights on to wait for him, the house was shrouded in darkness that day. Overcome by a bad feeling, the husband found her body cold as stone and cried out in agony. Detectives were horrified to find the victim’s neck and both hands meticulously bound with a TV power cord, with evidence of a sexual crime also discovered.

After persistent questioning, detectives spotted a suspicious man in his 20s near the scene three hours after the incident. With dirt covering his back and pants, he was seen peeking into the victim’s home. Although he claimed he was just drunk and trying to find a friend’s house, the ugly truth of that night began to surface as the investigation progressed.

The shock deepened when it was revealed that the culprit knew the layout of the victim’s home better than anyone. Upon hearing the culprit’s shameless excuses, Ahn Jung-hwan and Kim Nam-il expressed their rage, calling him “someone who deserves divine punishment” and saying he is “not even human.”

Before diving into the case, the show also brings back the atmosphere of 1984, from unique social trends like baby-sized dolls and the popularity of adult comic book stores to news of the Iran-Iraq War. Reflecting on the eight-year war, Ahn Jung-hwan and profiler Kwon Il-yong sighed deeply, stating, “War must never happen; it must stop.”
