Song Minho's Military Service Case: Manager Denies Prior Conspiracy as Prosecution Seeks 1 Year and 5 Months Prison Sentence

Manager A, the supervisor for WINNER member Song Minho, who was sent to trial for violating the Military Service Act, has stated that there was no prior conspiracy.

A trial regarding Manager A’s charges for violating the Military Service Act took place on May 21 at the Seoul Western District Court.

Manager A was indicted for neglecting the management and supervision of Song Minho’s alternative service. During the hearing, the court questioned A about the details of Song Minho’s attendance records and whether there was any prior conspiracy. While A admitted that there were errors in the attendance processing, they denied any prior conspiracy or division of roles.

Manager A requested the court to call Song Minho as a witness. The court responded that they would review the request once it was officially filed.

Song Minho served as a social service agent at the Mapo-gu Facilities Management Corporation from March 2023 to December 2024, but he is accused of violating the Military Service Act by failing to properly report to his workplace.

During the first trial held on April 21, prosecutors sought a prison sentence of 1 year and 6 months for Song Minho. The prosecution stated, “It appears he practically did not serve due to unauthorized absences and provided false explanations to the supervisory agency.”

In his final statement, Song Minho said, “I want to apologize to everyone. I am currently working hard on my treatment for (panic disorder). If I am given the opportunity to serve again once I recover my health, I want to complete it sincerely until the end.”
