While Ok-soon from the 31st batch of “I Am Solo” stepped up to support Young-sook, her methods had MCs Defconn and Song Hae-na shaking their heads.
In the May 6 episode of ENA and SBS Plus’s variety show “I Am Solo,” Ok-soon was seen acting as a “fire starter,” fueling the emotions of the other contestants.
During the episode, Jung-hee called Ok-soon aside for a private chat. Defconn joked, “She’s going to confess her struggles again.” Jung-hee opened up, saying, “I feel like I’m going to cry again. It’s hard, and my heart hurts.” Ok-soon asked, “Why? Were you a bit annoyed that Jung-sook and Young-shik went running this morning?” Jung-hee replied, “I was right there making eggs while waiting for them to come back.”
Ok-soon added, “If it were me, wouldn’t it be infuriating to see them come back in running gear? That’s what would annoy me more.” This prompted a reaction from the MCs. Song Hae-na raised her voice, saying, “What’s the big deal?” while Jung-hee noted, “She pointed out exactly the part that got to me.” However, Song Hae-na pointed out, “That’s not actually taking someone’s side.”
Jung-hee continued, “Jung-sook didn’t even go to the room to wash up and get ready; she just kept sitting there in those workout clothes. Seeing those clothes reminds me of them running. And they’ve been running for two days in a row now.” Defconn remarked, “Ok-soon seems to think this place is the Colosseum. She’s acting like a promoter in ‘Gladiator’ who provokes the fighters.”
Jung-hee shared her sadness, saying, “I’m just upset. I don’t even want to tell that person that we need to talk, so I’ll just try my best to endure it today. But thinking about the two of them dating is a total tear-button for me.” Ok-soon asked, “Is the anger just bubbling up inside?” Jung-hee tearfully admitted, “I feel like I’m not mature enough.”
Meanwhile, Sun-ja prepared rice cake soup for everyone who was hungry. Upon spotting Kyung-soo, Sun-ja signaled him to come over to her side. Watching this, Ok-soon commented, “What’s this? Looks like they’re dating.” Sun-ja took care of Kyung-soo by heating up the soup and even adding seaweed flakes. As Ok-soon and Young-ho watched them intently, Kyung-soo and Sun-ja continued their private conversation with smiles. Ok-soon remarked, “Cute. This is fun. This is why I watch ‘I Am Solo’.” Sun-ja added, “She seems more like an older sister to me. I’m 34 years old and currently receiving all this cuteness.”
Just then, Young-sook passed by. Ok-soon narrated the moment, saying, “Enter the competitor!” Young-sook felt uncomfortable with Sun-ja’s behavior, admitting, “There’s tension, and every woman has a bit of jealousy.” After returning to the lodging, Young-sook talked with Ok-soon and Jung-hee again. The three of them discussed Sun-ja during their “girls’ talk,” and Sun-ja overheard the conversation.
As the second round of girls’ talk began, Ok-soon stated, “I think she’ll have the hardest time among the three of us.” Young-sook asked, “Is the difficulty level the highest?” Ok-soon replied, “It’s the highest. She (Sun-ja) has basically tied him (Kyung-soo) down.” Young-sook mentioned, “I could actually try to go over there, but I hate the situation where I might become uncomfortable myself.” Ok-soon added, “That’s why I started observing Kyung-soo.”
Ok-soon questioned, “Does Kyung-soo really like Sun-ja?” Lee Yi-kyung sighed, “It would be better not to say things like that.” Jung-hee asked, “From what you’ve seen, does it seem like she’s not Kyung-soo’s style?” Ok-soon expressed her honest opinion, saying, “I don’t think so. Honestly, they don’t suit each other. I think he just made a safe choice.”
Ok-soon also noted, “In my view, even if Sun-ja says goodbye today, she makes a promise for tomorrow before she leaves. For example, ‘I’ll make you rice cake soup tomorrow.’ It seems like she sets up consecutive appointments.” However, Sun-ja overheard the three of them talking once again. Defconn raised his voice, saying, “This is a bit much. Was this meant for her to hear or what?”
Ok-soon mentioned that if she wins a Super Date ticket, she would give it to Young-sook, and Jung-hee also cheered for Young-sook. Song Hae-na commented, “I don’t like this kind of girls’ talk either. I understood the first time because you can take someone’s side, but I don’t like this kind of talk.” Defconn pointed out, “Ok-soon is probably bored because things are going well with Young-ho. She’s acting as a fire starter in hopes that others will be more bold in their boundaries. It’s fine to a point, but she shouldn’t go further than this.”
Meanwhile, it was revealed that Ok-soon is a former flight attendant who has experience working as a spokesperson for a presidential campaign.
