BIGBANG’s Taeyang brought laughter to fans by revealing Sung Si Kyung’s incredible “mukbang instinct” from his rookie days.
Taeyang appeared as a guest on the May 22nd episode of KBS2’s ‘The Seasons – Sung Si Kyung’s Earphone Boyfriend,’ where he delivered a live performance and shared some honest stories.
Recalling their long history, Sung Si Kyung said, “Taeyang once brought my CD to get an autograph. I was so happy that I wanted to tell the whole world, ‘Taeyang got my autograph!'”
In response, Taeyang shared a special episode from BIGBANG’s early debut days. He recalled, “Back then, rookies didn’t have proper waiting rooms at music shows. Fortunately, Daesung was an MC, so we could stay in his waiting room,” adding, “Fans had prepared so much food for us for lunch.”
He continued, “Seniors were constantly passing by on their way to rehearsals, and Sung Si Kyung sunbaenim came by to greet us and immediately spotted the food. In a very calm and kind voice, he said, ‘This looks truly delicious,'” which left the set in stitches.
Taeyang added, “He tasted a few things, went to his rehearsal, and then came back. He naturally sat down next to us, opened the lunch boxes, and ate with us. After finishing, he just said, ‘It’s so delicious. Keep it up!’ and left,” causing another burst of laughter.
Hearing this, Sung Si Kyung bashfully remarked, “That was the beginning of YouTuber Sung Si Kyung,” to which Taeyang joked, “It wasn’t strange at all when you started your mukbang YouTube channel.”
Sung Si Kyung kept the mood light with his witty reactions, joking, “I wanted to show them a senior who eats well rather than one who nags,” and adding, “It was also my way of expressing gratitude for the food the fans sent.”
Meanwhile, Taeyang has returned with his first full-length album in nine years, ‘QUINTESSENCE.’ The new album features 10 tracks, including the title song, and musically portrays a journey to find the most important values that are invisible. Through this album, Taeyang hopes that questions starting from his own personal narrative will resonate with the essential something within each listener.
