The crisis for Chae Hwa-young (Oh Hyun-kyung) is intensifying as signs emerge that Ma Dae-chang’s (Lee Hyo-jung) long-lost biological daughter is actually Jung Sook-hee (Jung So-young).
In the May 15th episode of MBC’s daily drama “The First Man,” Chae Hwa-young’s anxiety peaks after discovering the blood relation between Ma Dae-chang and Jung Sook-hee.
During the episode, Chae Hwa-young acted impulsively, pushing Ma Dae-chang’s sister-in-law to spill stew on the table just to stop her from staring suspiciously at Jung Sook-hee and drawing attention to her.
However, the sister-in-law noticed a specific habit of Jung Sook-hee’s when she was surprised, leading her to suspect that she might be the daughter Ma Dae-chang lost long ago. Chae Hwa-young tried to block this revelation by using Ma Dae-chang’s health as an excuse to keep the sister-in-law quiet.
Chae Hwa-young also learned an even more shocking truth through her conversation with the sister-in-law: Jung Sook-hee and Ma Dong-seok (Kim Young-pil) are not biological siblings. It turns out Ma Dae-chang adopted Ma Dong-seok after believing his own daughter had died in the past.
Chae Hwa-young, who believed she could frame the two as having an “inappropriate sibling relationship,” fell into a state of extreme panic when her plan failed. She confessed her anxiety to Lee Kang-hyuk (Lee Jae-hwang), stating, “If Ma Dae-chang finds out Jung Sook-hee is his biological daughter, I’ll lose everything.”
Lee Kang-hyuk suggested they leave everything behind and start over with their son, Kang Jun-ho (Park Gun-il), but Chae Hwa-young refused. This led to a heated emotional battle. When Lee Kang-hyuk asked why Kang Nam-bong (Jung Chan) was acceptable but he wasn’t, Chae Hwa-young lashed out, hurting him by saying, “Professor Kang isn’t as vulgar and ignorant as you.”
Meanwhile, Oh Jang-mi (Ham Eun-jung) successfully secured crucial evidence regarding the murder of Oh Bok-gil (Kim Hak-sun). Yang Geum-soon (An Ju-am) delivered Ma Seo-rin’s (Ham Eun-jung) USB lipstick to Oh Jang-mi, who secretly copied evidence of Chae Hwa-young’s crime. Oh Jang-mi is now determined to use this to send Chae Hwa-young to prison.
Tension continues to rise as Ma Dae-chang gets closer to finding his daughter. Secretary Kim reported that while investigating someone who previously impersonated the daughter, he discovered that the person suspected to be the real daughter has been living under the name “Park Young-mi.” Ma Dae-chang has now ordered a nationwide search for all people named Park Young-mi.
In the preview, Chae Hwa-young is seen stealing a necklace, a key piece of evidence proving Jung Sook-hee is the biological daughter. However, Ma Seo-rin witnesses this and comes to a wild conclusion, asking, “Is Mom the grandfather’s daughter?” mistakenly believing Chae Hwa-young is the long-lost child, promising even more chaos.
