Production company Hive Media Corp announced on the 7th, “The movie ‘The Gardeners’ (directed by Nam Dong-hyeop) began filming on the 29th of last month.” Along with this, they shared scenes from the script reading where Director Nam Dong-hyeop and lead actors Song Kang-ho and Koo Kyo-hwan gathered to build their perfect acting synergy and chemistry.
The story follows a civil servant and “plant butler” (someone who loves growing and caring for plants) whose only hobby is raising flowers. When he teams up with the neighborhood’s biggest troublemaker for a special gardening business, the quiet town is thrown into unimaginable chaos. This is the latest project from Director Nam Dong-hyeop, who previously showcased his unique directing skills in the occult-comedy hybrid “Handsome Guys” (2024).
Song Kang-ho plays Choi Young-il, a diligent civil servant and a miracle plant butler who can even bring dead plants back to life. He is expected to bring a new dimension to his acting with a character unlike any he has played before. Koo Kyo-hwan takes on the role of Kim Moon-ho, a local troublemaker who attracts accidents just by breathing, creating a fresh and exciting chemistry with Song Kang-ho.
Song Seung-heon will undergo a bold transformation as Han Chung-yong, a star who hit rock bottom after a certain incident, while Lee Kwang-soo adds energy to the film as President Song, working alongside Choi Young-il. Meanwhile, Shin Hyun-been, playing Kang Mi-ae, is set to bring a subtle tension that shifts the atmosphere of the story, leaving fans curious about her role.
The cast is further bolstered by Kim Byung-chul as Choi Young-il’s colleague Yeom Byung-chul, Park Ju-hyun as Officer Jung Hae-ri, Lee Ji-hyun as Kim Moon-ho’s mother Bae Mi-hwa, Kim Sung-kyun as Police Chief Park, Woo Hyun as the Town Head, and Im Won-hee as the County Governor. Additionally, Lee Jae-in makes a special appearance as Choi Eun-soo, Choi Young-il’s daughter, showcasing a realistic father-daughter chemistry with Song Kang-ho.
With such a solid casting lineup, “The Gardeners” is now in full swing with filming.
