According to the Integrated Ticket Network on the 18th, the movie ‘Michael’ claimed the number one spot at the box office last weekend. After beating its competitors by a huge margin to reach the top of the charts, all eyes are now on what kind of records ‘Michael’ will break in its second week of release.
‘Michael’ completely dominated the box office during its opening weekend (the 15th to the 17th), drawing in 470,370 viewers. With 179,027 viewers on the previous day, it outperformed competitors like ‘Super Mario Galaxy’ (59,067 viewers) and ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ (40,142 viewers) by more than three times. Having held the top spot for five consecutive days since its release on the 13th, ‘Michael’ has now recorded a cumulative total of 647,913 viewers.
The film proved its box office power by surpassing the opening weekend score (430,080 viewers) of ‘Project Hail Mary,’ this year’s highest-grossing foreign film. It is also nearing the opening weekend record (523,353 viewers) of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ the music biopic that attracted 9.94 million viewers, signaling the start of a new syndrome.
