The red carpet and official screening for ‘Swarm’, invited to the Midnight Screening section, took place at the Palais des Festivals Lumiere Theatre in Cannes, France, at midnight on the 15th (local time).
‘Swarm’ is a film about isolated survivors in a building locked down due to a mysterious infection, fighting against infected beings that evolve in unpredictable ways.
The red carpet and official screening were attended by actors Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hyun-bin, Kim Shin-rok, and Director Yeon Sang-ho. Although the screening was delayed by about 30 minutes from the original 12:30 AM slot due to theater circumstances, the audience waited until the end, showing their immense interest and anticipation for K-movies.

Jun Ji-hyun flaunted her stunning beauty and figure in an elegant white dress. Ji Chang-wook caught everyone’s eye in a black and white suit that seemed to match Jun Ji-hyun’s look, while Koo Kyo-hwan added a cute charm with a black suit and bowtie. Shin Hyun-bin showcased her beauty with a bright mix of silver and black, and Kim Shin-rok radiated charm in a chic and dandy black two-piece that perfectly suited her short haircut.

As soon as the credits rolled after the 122-minute screening, applause erupted, followed by a standing ovation that lasted for about 7 minutes. Director Yeon Sang-ho and the actors looked deeply moved as they expressed their gratitude to the audience who filled the theater.
A “regular guest” at Cannes, Director Yeon Sang-ho has been invited to the festival four times, starting with his first feature-length animation ‘The King of Pigs’ (2012, Director’s Fortnight), followed by ‘Train to Busan’ (2016, Midnight Screening), and ‘Peninsula’ (2020, Official Selection). Having left a strong impression on the global film industry with his original twists on the Korean zombie genre, Director Yeon Sang-ho once again proved his power as the father of K-zombies through ‘Swarm’.
Meanwhile, ‘Swarm’, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, will be released in Korea on the 21st.
