The “Bamti Tiger” CG, which left 16.83 million viewers in shock, has finally been fixed! The updated version is now available on OTT platforms, and fans are sharing their honest reactions.

Directed by Jang Hang-jun, ‘The Man Living with the King’ began streaming on April 29 across various platforms, including IPTV, digital cable TV, and OTT services like Wavve, Apple TV, Coupang Play, Watcha, Google TV, and YouTube.

Distributor Showbox described this as a version with “enhanced VFX effects for some scenes,” specifically targeting the infamous “Bamti Tiger” that became a hot topic since the movie’s release.

During the theatrical run, the tiger’s CG was criticized for lacking quality and breaking immersion. On March 8, Jang Won-seok, CEO of production company B&A Entertainment, admitted on SBS Radio’s ‘Bae Sung-jae’s Ten’ that the low quality was the responsibility of the producer and director, explaining that the release date was moved up by the distributor, leaving them short on time.

Director Jang Hang-jun also shared, “We knew the CG was lacking, but we had no choice since the distributor decided on the release date.” He added, “However, the movie did well because it opened during the Lunar New Year holiday. We don’t know what would have happened if it had opened much later. Even if the tiger looked great, it might not have been a hit.”

Lim Eun-jung, CEO of production company Onda Works, mentioned in an interview celebrating 10 million viewers, “As a producer, there are parts I feel embarrassed about.” She explained that they had to choose where to focus their efforts within the given timeframe and added, “We are currently supplementing the CG for the OTT release. This is only possible because the movie was successful. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have had the chance to do additional work. I’m grateful.”

Viewers who saw the updated tiger CG are flooding OTT platforms and social media with reactions. Some said, “I had no intention of rewatching ‘The Man Living with the King,’ but I turned it on because I was curious about how the Bamti Tiger changed,” “It really got a proper camera massage,” “The plastic surgery looks way better,” and “This isn’t just a touch-up; it’s a full reconstruction.”

On the other hand, some quirky reactions emerged, such as “Now that it’s cool, it’s lost its original charm” and “I’m sad the clumsy feeling is gone.” It seems some fans actually grew fond of the original “Bamti Tiger” because it became such a meme.

With so much buzz surrounding the updated CG, all eyes are on how long the audience’s interest in ‘The Man Living with the King’ will last.
