Top Star Bae Jong-ok Steals the Spotlight with Overwhelming Presence in 'Everyone is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness'

Actress Bae Jong-ok has delivered an absolutely overwhelming performance in ‘Everyone is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness’!

In the JTBC Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Everyone is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness’ (written by Park Hae-young and directed by Cha Young-hoon), Bae Jong-ok proves her acting mastery as the top star Oh Jung-hee.

In the series, Oh Jung-hee creates a mysterious tension when she first meets Hwang Dong-man (Koo Kyo-hwan), the man her biological daughter Byeon Eun-ah (Go Youn-jung) likes. While staring at Hwang Dong-man, who expresses his fan-heart for her, Oh Jung-hee radiates a quiet charisma with just a simple “Thank you.”

Shortly after the meeting, Oh Jung-hee runs into Byeon Eun-ah. Following her daughter’s request not to reveal their relationship, she completely ignores her. However, she catches viewers’ attention in the car on the way home, expressing a whirlwind of complex emotions with a subtle smirk.

Later, after seeing the close relationship between her step-daughter Jang Mi-ran (Han Sun-hwa) and Byeon Eun-ah on social media, Oh Jung-hee visits Eun-ah in person. She reacts sharply, saying, “You told me not to get caught, but isn’t getting this close to Mi-ran a bit much?” She even criticizes Hwang Dong-man to provoke Eun-ah. As Eun-ah fights back with harsh words, Oh Jung-hee’s shaking eyes and twitching facial muscles perfectly convey her shock.

Eventually, Oh Jung-hee explodes as Byeon Eun-ah touches upon her wounds. From her childhood struggles with poverty to the existence of her husband’s first love who occupied his heart throughout their marriage, she lets out a desperate scream of misery that leaves viewers breathless.

Particularly chilling was the moment when, at the peak of her emotions, she wiped away her tears as if nothing had happened and instantly changed her expression to ask, “Shall we go?” This scene perfectly captured Oh Jung-hee’s extreme perfectionism, having lived her life as if acting, and the deep loneliness hidden beneath.

Bae Jong-ok not only shifts the flow of the scene without a single word but also heightens the immersion through her gaze and facial expressions that carry more weight than any dialogue. Combined with her stunning fashion, ranging from bold red to pristine white setups, she completely dominates the screen. Fans are now eagerly waiting to see what’s next for Oh Jung-hee.

Meanwhile, JTBC’s ‘Everyone is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness’ airs every Saturday at 10:40 PM and Sunday at 10:30 PM.
