Yoo Jae Suk from ‘Hangout with Yoo’ has transformed into a short-form drama PD!

In the MBC variety show ‘Hangout with Yoo’ aired on the 2nd, Director Yoo Jae Suk, along with Haha, Heo Kyung-hwan, and Joo Woo-jae, went all out to cast their short-form drama.

Yoo Jae Suk caught everyone’s attention by revealing his directorial vision, stating, “Someone must either die or fall in love as soon as it starts.” After Heo Kyung-hwan’s interview, Joo Woo-jae appeared, and Yoo Jae Suk sparked laughter by deducting points for his attitude, saying, “He’s not my style.”

Yoo Jae Suk asked about the possibility of a friendship-based casting, asking, “You’re close with Byeon Woo-seok, right? Can you cast him in the short-form drama or not?” Joo Woo-jae replied, “I could try calling or asking,” but expressed his frustration, wondering, “Are you trying to use me as a stepping stone right now? I’m curious about your intentions.”

While Joo Woo-jae showed his determination by saying, “I’ll work hard as long as I’m not just a stepping stone for casting,” Yoo Jae Suk drew bursts of laughter by drawing a line, saying, “In that case, you can’t be with us.” Meanwhile, Haha, an aspiring actor, reprised his role from ‘Muhan Company,’ but felt embarrassed by his acting skills, which seemed to have regressed over 10 years, remarking, “I feel naked.”

After the interviews, Yoo Jae Suk expressed his casting ambitions and realistic regrets, saying, “I also need to work with people like IU and Byeon Woo-seok.” Heo Kyung-hwan, who has recently emerged as a commercial star, shared a humiliating experience after picking up snacks, revealing, “I was embarrassed downstairs. The ID card didn’t work. The door wouldn’t open,” referring to his prop employee ID.

While Yoo Jae Suk wanted to flesh out the story using AI, he explicitly mentioned actors’ names, saying, “I want to cast IU and Byeon Woo-seok,” and stated he would recruit them through persuasion rather than money. Haha exposed him, saying, “He’s just talking nonsense,” and added, “He takes his own salary but always says there’s no production budget.” Yoo Jae Suk responded sharply, “I’ll make him leave on his own.”

The members personally met actors Kim Seok-hoon and Kim Sung-kyun to persuade them to join. During filming, they had a surprise encounter with actor Hwang Jung-min on the street and tried to recruit him, but failed. Haha attempted to cast ‘OST Queen’ Baek Z Young over the phone, and to his surprise, she showed a positive reaction, asking, “The song is great. But how much are you going to pay me?”

Meanwhile, the title of the short drama directed by Yoo Jae Suk is ‘I Decided to Take Back the Woman My Brother Stole.’ It is expected to be a hit as it blends genres of affair, revenge, and medical drama.
