Yoon Tae-hwa and Hyun Dae-hwa have claimed their first victory on ‘Mistrot For You’ after a tense battle, beating Lee So-na and Park Da-hye by just 2 points!
In the May 21 episode of TV CHOSUN’s ‘Mistrot For You’, the TOP 5 teams faced off in a fierce competition. The strong contenders, team ‘I Will Rise with Song’, delivered a steady and emotional performance to complete their winning drama. The episode recorded a 4.4% nationwide rating (Nielsen Korea), ranking #1 across all channels in its time slot, #1 for Thursday variety shows, and #1 for daily general programming. The peak viewership even soared to 4.9%!
The preliminary rounds were a brutal survival game. While Yoon Yoon-seo and Park Seo-jun’s ‘Bean Sprout Trot’ team showcased authentic trot vibes with Na Hoon-a’s ‘Broken Wall Clock’ and scored high, Yeom Yu-ri and Yeom Kwon-sun’s ‘Seongbuk-dong Positive Taxi’ team unfortunately received the lowest score and were eliminated.
Heo Chan-mi and Seo Eun-gyo’s ‘Eight-Colored Eun-gyo’ team also had to leave the stage immediately, despite a polished performance marking their reunion after 15 years. The elimination of Heo Chan-mi, who was the ‘Sun’ (runner-up) of ‘Mistrot 4’, sent a wave of shock and tension through the venue. Meanwhile, Yoon Tae-hwa and Hyun Dae-hwa’s ‘I Will Rise with Song’ team signaled a powerful run, scoring an overwhelming 199 points with an explosive high-note performance of The One’s ‘Love’.
The heat intensified during the first round of individual matches. Yoon Yoon-seo delivered deep sorrow with Kang Min-ju’s ‘Hoeryongpo’, scoring 180 points. The highest score of the night went to Yoon Tae-hwa. Performing Lee Eun-ha’s ‘Spring Rain’, Yoon Tae-hwa stunned everyone with a flawless live performance despite a sudden mishap where her in-ear monitor wasn’t working. Showing perfect vocals over the band accompaniment, she scored 183 points, beating Hong Seong-yoon by just 1 point to take sole first place in the individual round.
The second round of duet battles featured a variety of colors. Yoon Yoon-seo and Park Seo-jun brought a depth beyond their teenage years with Lee Chan-won’s ‘Sijeol Inyeon’. Gil Ryeo-won and Gil Yeon-seo, the ‘Law Student Older Sister’ team, turned the venue into a festival with Yu Ji-na’s ‘Ssirang’, bringing the audience to their feet. Hong Seong-yoon and Takuya, the ‘Japan-born Flower Boy Alert’ team, created a heartbreaking harmony with Kim Kwang-seok’s ‘Around Thirty’.
Looking for a comeback, Lee So-na and Park Da-hye’s ‘200 Million View High-Note Goddess’ team unleashed explosive high-note harmonies with Davichi’s ‘Don’t Say Goodbye’. The performance earned rave reviews, with comments like “They really are the Davichi of the trot world”, “Only experts could pull off those harmonies”, and “I was so immersed that I gasped without realizing it.”
Yoon Tae-hwa and Hyun Dae-hwa delivered a deeply resonant performance of Lim Young-woong’s ‘Ode to Life’. After the stage, Yoon Tae-hwa shared a heartfelt message to Hyun Dae-hwa, saying, “I heard you struggled with social anxiety after your accident. Seeing you enjoy the stage with the audience today brought tears to my eyes. The final result was unpredictable until the very end. While the ‘200 Million View High-Note Goddess’ team scored the highest in the duet round with 187 points, the combined total saw Yoon Tae-hwa and Hyun Dae-hwa’s ‘I Will Rise with Song’ team win with 369 points, a narrow 2-point lead. Instead of the prize money, Hyun Dae-hwa chose to challenge for a winning streak, saying, “I haven’t yet shown the world me singing while standing.” Their story will continue in the next episode.
