Singer Chungha revealed that she only got angry once during her time with I.O.I ten years ago.
The SBS variety show ‘Ani Geunde Jinjja!’ recently featured the members of I.O.I reuniting to celebrate their 10th debut anniversary.
During the episode, Jeon Somi caught everyone’s attention by confessing to past conflicts with Kim Sejeong and Kim Doyeon over her attitude and way of speaking. She recalled a monthly meeting where she lay down because she had an early schedule the next day, which led Kim Sejeong to call her out.
Jeon Somi remembered Kim Sejeong saying, “The unnies are all sitting and we’re in a group meeting, so I don’t think lying down is polite.” Somi shared that she immediately got up and stayed in the meeting until the end.
While Kim Sejeong claimed she didn’t remember the incident, she added, “Even hearing it now, I think getting up was the right thing to do. Who isn’t tired?” bringing laughter to the set.
Jeon Somi also shared another baffling story involving Kim Doyeon. When Kim Doyeon asked if she could eat some bread, Somi said yes, but Kim Doyeon suddenly responded, “Why is your tone like that?” before throwing the bread and walking into her room.
Jeon Somi exposed that the unnie disliked her tone, while Kim Doyeon admitted she had a “Confucian mindset” regarding respect, noting that she and Jeon Somi are only two years apart in age.
Meanwhile, Chungha, who was aware of all these incidents, seemed to have had no conflicts with the members. When Lee Su-ji asked if there was anything she wanted to say, Yoo Yeon-jung urged her, “Unnie, tell them about that incident!”
It turns out that Chungha, the eldest member, had gotten angry at the members exactly once. She confessed that because a manager told her she had to express everything she was upset about before going home, she told the members, “You guys don’t think of me as an unnie,” and then left. Choi Yoo-jung recalled that her “heart sank” at the time.
