Young K Shares DAY6’s Humble Beginnings: “We Promoted Ourselves Despite Being Under JYP”

Young K Shares DAY6's Humble Beginnings:
ENA ‘더 스카웃’

Intensive training camp is officially kicking off on “The Scout”!

In the 3rd episode of ENA’s growth-oriented music project “THE SCOUT: The Star Born Again” (hereafter “The Scout”), airing May 22, the “Starry Camp” will reveal the intense training of the “Muses” during their two-day, one-night camp.

The “Starry Camp” opens with a fresh atmosphere. As the Muses arrive one by one, Lee Seung-chul takes control of the mood immediately with a grim reaper-like warning, telling them, “You will meet your end here.” He adds to the anticipation by mentioning, “The vocal clinic here is really great. I changed completely too.” After switching into “mother bird mode” by personally taking care of their food, he assigns the first mission: filming a team video within one minute. While the teams are busy brainstorming, Young K makes a surprise visit to lend his support. He gives the Muses a bit of a shock by revealing, “Even though DAY6 debuted under JYP, we did our own promotions. We handed out handwritten letters with candies attached in Hongdae, asking people to come to our shows.”

Next, “Soul Mentor” Kim Chang-ok enters the scene. Having accepted Lee Seung-chul’s personal invitation, Kim Chang-ok noted, “If it’s a request from my hyung, I have to go.” After reading the Muses’ worry notes, he shares that he also majored in vocal music and delivers a sincere communication lecture that deeply moves the Muses. Following the lecture, Lee Seung-chul takes the stage to give some tough love, reminding them, “You can’t just stick to your own individuality. The point of this program is to listen to others for once and show a successful version of yourself.”

The next morning, “Physical & Mental Master” Choo Sung-hoon arrives to lead a “hell training” session. With penalties awaiting the last-place team, the Muses cause laughter with their raw reactions, with some claiming they can “taste blood in their throats.” Choo Sung-hoon sparks curiosity by expressing genuine admiration for one Muse, stating, “Looking at this friend made me feel like I need to work harder too.” The master care sessions are equally interesting. Kim Jae-joong conducts a special class by having team members mimic actor Park Shin-yang, explaining that this is actually part of some trainee curriculums. He causes a burst of laughter by bluntly telling Kwon Ui-bin, “That was vulgar!”

Finally, MC Kim Seong-ju appears to host the Muses’ first official stage and competition under the theme “Remake My Self.” He raises expectations by exclaiming, “Wow, even if this were scripted, it couldn’t come out like this.” Attention is now focused on how the 16 Muses will explode with charm on their first stage after grooming, and who will emerge as the top vote-getter. The episode airs on the 22nd at 8 PM.
