Global fashion brand ZARA has unveiled a costume collection in collaboration with the Netflix animation ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’. The line is based on the stage outfits of the female group ‘Huntress’ and the male group ‘Saja Boys’, bringing the show’s unique universe into real-life fashion.

While previous collaborations often focused on t-shirts with character graphics, this collection expands into ‘costume-style clothing’ that recreates the actual stage outfits. Details like gold accents, asymmetric shoulder structures, and glossy materials were used to translate the Huntress performance outfits into everyday wear.

The Saja Boys outfits are particularly drawing attention. They feature robe-style clothing inspired by the ‘Jeoseungsaja’ (Grim Reaper) with flame-like patterns to emphasize the character’s identity. To top it off, the ‘gat’ (traditional Korean hat) has been added. It is quite rare for a global fashion brand to prominently feature a Grim Reaper concept and the ‘gat’.

This trend reflects the global influence of ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’. Since its release on Netflix last year, it has surpassed 500 million cumulative views, breaking Netflix’s viewership records. Four songs, including the OST ‘Golden’, simultaneously entered the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, and the series won Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song at the 98th Academy Awards.

The impact of the content has spread across various fields. For example, famous spots in Seoul used as backgrounds in the show are now called the ‘K-De-Heon 8 Sights’, leading to an explosion in tourism. Recently, the traditional ‘binyeo’ (hairpin) even made an appearance on the Met Gala red carpet, creating a buzz. ZARA’s collaboration is seen as an extension of this ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ syndrome.

Riding this wave of popularity, Netflix has recently confirmed the production of ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters 2’.
