“A Contract Marriage?!” IU Faces a Witch Hunt Crisis in ’21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife’

IU and Byeon Woo-seok are in a serious crisis!

In the 3rd episode of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama ’21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife’ (written by Yoo Ji-won, directed by Park Jun-hwa) aired on the 8th, we saw the unfolding romance between Seong Hee-joo (IU) and Grand Prince Ian (Byeon Woo-seok), who find themselves as a royal couple in a 21st-century constitutional monarchy.

Tensions rose as reports surfaced that Seong Hee-joo entered into a contract marriage with Grand Prince Ian for her own benefit, sparking a major trust issue within the royal family. While giving a lecture at a school, Hee-joo had to make a quick escape, and Grand Prince Ian stepped up to protect her, holding her hand as they navigated their way out.

With reporters swarming the area, the Grand Prince volunteered to be a shield, insisting, “I’ll go out first,” to keep Hee-joo safe. Overcome with fear, Hee-joo gripped his hand tightly and insisted, “We’re going out together,” and the two managed to escape through a back exit.

To manage the fallout, Prime Minister Min (Roh Sang-hyun) summoned the pair and questioned them, asking, “Who else knows about this contract marriage besides me?” to confirm the truth. He then silenced them, stating, “We will take a non-responsive approach. As long as the contract is real, no explanation or justification will work.”
