A New Legend Begins! HBO Confirms Production of 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets'

The HBO drama ‘Harry Potter,’ which is expected to become a legend for a new generation, has already fast-tracked the confirmation of its second season!

On the 6th (local time), HBO announced that Season 2, based on ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,’ will begin filming this fall.

HBO previously shared plans to bring J.K. Rowling’s seven original novels to life through a massive drama project spanning seven seasons over approximately 10 years.

John Brown, who worked on the script for Season 1, has been promoted to co-showrunner starting this season, leading the series alongside Francesca Gardiner.

Francesca Gardiner explained, “Since we are working on the post-production of Season 1 for a Christmas release while immediately transitioning into Season 2 production, a co-showrunner system was essential.” She added, “I’m thrilled to reunite with John Brown, whom I’ve worked with since ‘Succession.’ I feel lucky to be with such a talented writer.”

John Brown also expressed his excitement, saying, “I’m very excited to collaborate with Francesca as co-showrunner.” He continued, “Working on the script for ‘The Philosopher’s Stone’ was a great joy. I’m grateful to the production team and HBO for trusting me to continue this journey.” He added with a smile, “I guess you’re never too old to receive a Hogwarts acceptance letter.”

This year marks the 25th anniversary of when global audiences first met ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ on the big screen. Now, a new ‘Harry Potter’ series has begun its 10-year epic journey with a next-generation cast.

With original author J.K. Rowling serving as executive producer to maintain the series’ authenticity and legendary film composer Hans Zimmer handling the soundtrack, anticipation for the series is skyrocketing.

The new ‘main trio’ features Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

With Season 2 already confirmed even before the premiere of the first installment, the HBO drama ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ aims for a release on December 25. In Korea, it will be available exclusively on Coupang Play.
