Actor Jang Dong-ju has officially announced his retirement from the entertainment industry.
On the 15th, Jang Dong-ju shared his decision to retire via SNS, bidding a final farewell to his fans.
Reflecting on his career, he shared, “I have received so much love and support while living as an actor for a long time. Every moment I laughed and cried in front of the camera was the most shining time of my life.”
He continued his gratitude, saying, “I sincerely thank the directors, staff, and fellow actors who believed in me and worked with me. Above all, it was thanks to the fans who always stayed by my side that I was able to walk this path happily until the end.”
He added, “As of today, I intend to step down from my life as actor Jang Dong-ju. Although I am leaving the stage, I will never forget the love you have shown me. Thank you sincerely for loving actor Jang Dong-ju until now.”
Jang Dong-ju debuted in 2012 with the play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and appeared in dramas such as ‘School 2017’, ‘Revenge’, ‘I’ll Be Your Night’, ‘Trigger’, and ‘I’m Human from Today’.
Back in January, he revealed that he had fallen into billions of won in debt after becoming a victim of phone hacking and blackmail. At the time, he explained, “I received a call from an unknown number and found out my phone had been completely hacked. I borrowed money by any means necessary. My family even sold their house for me. Because of the urgent debt, more debt piled up, and I lost billions. I ended up buried in debt.”
Although he signed an exclusive contract with Management W in February and announced the filming of Director Kim Gil-young’s new movie ‘Our Next’ on the 1st of this month, he has now unexpectedly announced his retirement.

While living as an actor for a long time,
