Actor Son Seung-won has been brought to trial once again on charges of driving under the influence (DUI). Having previously been the first celebrity to receive a prison sentence under the “Yoon Chang-ho Act,” the revelation of his repeated DUI and unlicensed driving has left many in shock.

It has also been revealed that he attempted to destroy evidence by asking his girlfriend to remove the black box recording device from his car, which was held at the Yongsan Police Station. While Son Seung-won’s side pleaded for leniency during the trial, prosecutors have requested a four-year prison sentence.
This incident has brought his history of habitual DUI back into the spotlight. He had previously served time in prison after being caught for DUI. Even more shocking is the news that he was caught driving without a license on the 8th, just six days before his first trial for the current case.

At the time, Son Seung-won’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.206%, a level that leads to license revocation. He further sparked public outrage by asking a junior actor who was in the car to claim that they were the one driving. Ultimately, just four months after his initial DUI arrest, he committed a hit-and-run while driving unlicensed and intoxicated, earning the dishonor of being the first celebrity to have the “Yoon Chang-ho Act” applied to them.
Son Seung-won debuted in 2009 through the musical “Spring Awakening” and has appeared in dramas such as “I Remember You,” “Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho,” and “Welcome to Waikiki.”
