Chef Kwon Sung-jun didn’t hold back his thoughts regarding the production team.
In the May 21st episode of tvN’s variety show ‘Undercover Chef’, Chefs Sam Kim, Jung Ji-sun, and Kwon Sung-jun were shown working undercover as the youngest kitchen staff members abroad.
During a studio session with MC Kim Poong, the cast shared their experiences. Kwon Sung-jun caught everyone’s attention by confessing, “It was so hard. I still haven’t recovered.”
Kim Poong questioned the feasibility of the mission, asking, “Is it even possible to work undercover as a kitchen assistant abroad and get a new menu item listed in just 5 days?” Kwon Sung-jun agreed and teased, “Do you know what I first said to the production team when I heard this?”

Kwon Sung-jun revealed, “I told the PDs, ‘You really know nothing about cooking.'” Kim Poong added with a laugh, “I also mentioned that the production team thinks too lightly of this industry,” while Kwon Sung-jun shook his head, insisting, “It makes no sense.”
Chefs Sam Kim and Jung Ji-sun shared their struggle, saying, “We thought there would be some kind of support system, but they basically just threw us in and ran away.” They even reenacted how their only interactions were saying hello when arriving and goodbye when leaving.
Kwon Sung-jun emphasized that it felt like “practically neglect,” recalling how he asked the writers, “Why did you even come to Italy if this is how it’s going to be? If you’re not going to tell us anything, why not just watch videos in Korea?” He even admitted to begging for a script.
