Comedian Kim Mi-ryeo appeared on a YouTube variety show and bravely confessed that she once considered extreme choices due to severe financial hardships in the past.
Kim Mi-ryeo featured in a video titled “Why did Kim Mi-ryeo go to the point of extreme choice?” on the YouTube channel “Moon Chun-sik’s Maegyeo-deurimnida,” released on the 19th.
Originally moving to Seoul to pursue a singing career, Kim Mi-ryeo changed her path after crossing paths with Cultwo’s Kim Tae-gyun. She later shot to stardom with the “Samonim” corner on MBC’s “Gagya,” but she opened up about the financial struggles she faced during her early days in Daehak-ro.
“Things got hard after I became successful. I didn’t earn as much money as I thought,” she shared, hinting at misconduct by her agency. She added, “I think there was a lot of embezzlement. They told me I didn’t have appearance fees because there were so many sponsorships. I was a fool to believe it all. Even though I knew my bank balance was 0 won, I kept inserting my bankbook just to check.”

“I felt so pitiful. The managers at the time were the ones who did that. I became mentally exhausted,” she revealed, admitting that she even contemplated extreme choices.
She recalled a specific incident involving Gyeong-bun, who slept with earplugs before a recording for “Utchatsa.” “I barely woke Gyeong-bun up to handle the situation. She described it as ‘feeling like catching 10 mackerels,'” Kim Mi-ryeo shared. She also confessed, “I wrapped my hand in a towel and went to the hospital. I had a performance the next day, and everyone noticed, but they didn’t let on. I was around 27 or 28 years old at the time.”
Since then, Kim Mi-ryeo regained her popularity through various performances. In 2013, she married actor Jung Sung-yoon and now has a beautiful family with a son and a daughter. She is currently active in various YouTube variety shows.
