The venue was instantly flooded with tears as the voice of the late Ahn Sung-ki, the eternal “Chungmuro Star,” echoed through the hall.
A special stage took place at the end of Part 2 of the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards, held on the afternoon of the 8th at COEX D Hall in Gangnam, Seoul.
Before the performance, host Suzy mentioned “Parents’ Day,” calmly stating, “There were the parents of popular culture. Because of those who silently pushed us forward, we were able to step onto the arduous path of art with a little less fear.”
She continued, “Last year, we had to bid farewell to the scenery of a beautiful era coming to a close with aching hearts. But the art they left behind is not over. Baeksang wants to shout loudly that we will remember, feel, and reflect on the path of art they engraved in our bones, carrying it forward to future generations and into eternity.” Following this, Director Lee Byung-woo performed the OST of “The Most Beautiful Week of My Life,” and actor Yoo Yeon-seok sang.
“You haven’t forgotten my face, have you?” Starting with the late Ahn Sung-ki’s voice, a memorial stage unfolded for the masters of art, including “National Actor” Lee Soon-jae and the “Godfather of Comedy” Jeon Yoo-sung.
Heart-stirring words like “No star shines alone; they all reflect the light they received,” “I suddenly wanted to hear your voice. You’ll get used to it. That’s how life is,” and “Thank you all. I’m leaving after living a good life thanks to you” filled the air, leaving many junior colleagues in tears.
The “62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci” brought together major figures from TV, film, theater, and musicals, with Shin Dong-yup, Suzy, and Park Bo-gum returning as hosts. Notably, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Korean musicals, a new musical category was established, breaking boundaries between genres and evolving into a festival that encompasses all fields of K-content.
Hosted by Shin Dong-yup, Suzy, and Park Bo-gum, the event was broadcast simultaneously on JTBC, JTBC2, and JTBC4.
