From Han Suk-kyu's Daughter to Ahn Hyo-seop's Leading Lady: Chae Won-bin is Absolutely Lovely in 'Sold Out Today'!

SBS’s new Wed-Thu drama ‘Sold Out Today’, starring Chae Won-bin, tells the story of perfectionist farmer Matthew Lee (Ahn Hyo-seop) and “sell-out” show host Dam Ye-jin, who get entangled after a contract for cosmetics raw materials. The first episode, which aired on the 22nd of last month, kicked off with a 3.3% viewership rating (Nielsen Korea) and was praised as a “proper healing romantic comedy.”

Chae Won-bin, who plays the heroine Dam Ye-jin, played a huge part in building this early rapport with the audience. This is because the story begins by showing Dam Ye-jin’s daily life of loving her work and facing frustrations. In the drama, Dam Ye-jin is a workaholic who only thinks about work even while dating, but thanks to that, she is an “ace” who achieved the number one sales rank.

Having debuted in 2019 through the short independent film ‘Manage’, she has mostly been active in genre pieces that suit her sharp features, such as a supporting role in Director Park Hoon-jung’s ‘The Witch: Part 2’ (2022) and Netflix’s ‘Sweet Home Season 2’. In her most recent drama, MBC’s ‘Doubt’ (2024), she delivered a tense performance against veteran actor Han Suk-kyu while keeping her emotions extremely restrained. This made her widely known as “Han Suk-kyu’s daughter” and earned her the Best New Actress award at that year’s MBC Drama Awards.

Now, returning in her first terrestrial rom-com ‘Sold Out Today’, she has successfully showcased a different side of herself. Chae Won-bin, who is devoted to both work and love driven by “misunderstandings,” is expected to bring a fluttering sense of “certainty” to the viewers.
