Gang Dong Won and Oh Jung Se Team Up for 'Wild Thing': A Perfect Blend of Comedy and K-pop!

The movie ‘Wild Thing’ (directed by Son Jae Gon) is promising a “comedy full package” by teaming up the production company behind ‘Extreme Job’ with a crew of K-POP experts.

‘Wild Thing’ is a comedy about Triangle, a three-member co-ed dance group that once dominated the music scene but disbanded overnight after an unexpected incident. Now, 20 years later, they are embarking on a reckless challenge to grab a second chance at fame.

Actors Gang Dong Won, Um Tae Goo, and Park Ji Hyun come together as the members of Triangle, under the direction of Son Jae Gon, who is known for building a unique world in the comedy genre.

After capturing the hearts of critics and audiences with his debut ‘Sweet and Sour’ (2006), Director Son has established his own style with quirky setups and ironic humor in ‘The Villain on the Second Floor’ (2010) and ‘I’m Not Harming You’ (2020).

This film is set to showcase the essence of “Son Jae Gon style” comedy with strong characters, an unpredictable plot, and non-stop laughter.

Adding to the anticipation is the involvement of About Film, the production company behind ‘Extreme Job’, the all-time number one hit comedy in Korean cinema history, along with a team of veteran producers.

To bring the Y2K styling to life, the film has recruited makeup artists Jo Tae Hee (‘Zombie Daughter’, ‘Moving’, ‘The Owl’) and Kim Na Eun (‘The Worst of Evil’, ‘Pine’, ‘Hero’), as well as costume director Kim Jung Won (‘Love in the Big City’, ‘Pilot’, ‘Kill Boksoon’).

Music director Lee Jin Hee (‘Kill Boksoon’, ‘Kingmaker’) has created a sound that blends nostalgic moods with modern sensibilities. The film’s atmosphere is further enriched with custom tracks, including the dance song ‘Shout it out’ and the ballad ‘I Like You’.

The addition of actual K-POP experts is also a major highlight.

Composer Shim Eun Ji, who has worked with TWICE, SHINee, and IU, wrote and composed Triangle’s representative song ‘Love is’. Additionally, JYP Entertainment producers, including KASS (who collaborated with NMIXX, GOT7, and ITZY), joined the project to enhance the realism.

The choreography was handled by Nana Company, known for their work with SSAK3, meticulously recreating everything from breaking dance to the high energy typical of idols.

‘Wild Thing’ opens on June 3.
