On the morning of May 15 (local time), the official photo call for ‘Gunche’, which was invited to the Midnight Screening section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, took place at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. Director Yeon Sang-ho and actors Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hyun-bin, and Kim Shin-rok all attended the event.
The photo call was packed with domestic and international media eager to cover the ‘Gunche’ team. The actors lit up the atmosphere with relaxed smiles and waves to the global press, while the flurry of camera flashes proved just how much anticipation there is for the film.
The excitement for ‘Gunche’ extended beyond the stage. Tickets for the Midnight Screening scheduled for midnight the following day sold out quickly, and fans were spotted frantically searching for ways to get in. Notably, Marie (20), a resident of Nice, and her mother Katie (63) were seen wandering near the Lumiere Theatre holding a picket written in Korean that read, “Please give me 2 invitations for ‘Gunche’.”

‘Gunche’ tells the story of isolated survivors trapped in a building locked down due to a mysterious infection, fighting against infected individuals who evolve in unpredictable ways. The film is expected to deliver a dense portrayal of human instinct and the conflict of choice in extreme survival situations, showcasing Director Yeon’s expanded genre imagination.
