Actress Han Ga-in caused a total stir at Gyeongbokgung Palace, appearing in full royal hanbok for the first time in 14 years since her role in the drama ‘Moon Embracing the Sun’.
On May 14, a video was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Free Woman Han Ga-in’ showing her visit to Gyeongbokgung in traditional hanbok following fan requests. Appearing with her hair elegantly tied back, Han Ga-in shared that she prepared this content because so many fans commented that they wanted to see her in traditional hanbok.
Han Ga-in also caught attention by sharing her regrets from the filming of the beloved drama ‘Moon Embracing the Sun’. She explained, “Since I played a shaman of low social status back then, I couldn’t even enter the palace or wear proper royal hanbok,” expressing her excitement at finally wearing luxurious palace attire 14 years later.

Dressed in an elegant white-toned dangui and a ‘wonsam’ (royal ceremonial robe) featuring intricate embroidery, Han Ga-in’s arrival at Gyeongbokgung immediately created a buzz. Her overwhelming visuals, looking as if a Joseon Dynasty queen had been reincarnated, drew crowds of tourists from all over the world, causing a temporary “paralysis” of the palace grounds.
While at the palace, Han Ga-in learned traditional etiquette and poses with a hanbok YouTuber and showed her friendly side by handing out yakgwa (honey cookies) she had prepared for foreign tourists. When the production team asked if playing a low-status character was more comfortable, she wittily replied, “Low-status roles require filming outside in the cold, so it’s way too chilly. I definitely have to play high-status roles from now on,” sparking laughter.
