Han Sun-hwa Swaps Drinks for Chalk! Taking on a Comic Horror in 'Student Teaching'

Opening on the 13th, ‘Student Teaching’ is a “horrible-ly” comedy film featuring student teacher Eun-gyeong (Han Sun-hwa) and a group of girls from a black magic club who must face a deadly mock exam against the CSAT ghost, Ida-inasi (Yoo Sun-ho).

Instead of a typical horror movie, the highlight of ‘Student Teaching’ is the unique concept of a ‘CSAT ghost’ combined with Han Sun-hwa’s signature realistic comedy. Her grounded performance keeps the story from becoming too dark and gloomy, making it more accessible to the public. Regarding her role, Han Sun-hwa shared, “Since the character is an MZ student teacher, there were some difficult lines that I wouldn’t actually use in real life.” She added, “I tried to deliver the lines by approaching the role with a sincere heart, wanting to protect the students as a teacher.”

In the currently airing JTBC drama ‘Everyone is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness’, Han Sun-hwa is already using her bright and lovely charm to refresh the atmosphere of the heavy subject matter. ‘Student Teaching’ follows a similar path, leading the story with her realistic comedy and lovely energy despite the challenging subject.

Notably, Han Sun-hwa won the Best Actor award at the 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival for ‘Student Teaching’. She shared her thoughts, saying, “The judges’ review mentioned that ‘Han Sun-hwa’s vivid realistic acting stands out’ and that she was ‘perfect for the role.’ I didn’t expect it, but it made sense, and I felt great.”
