A father used his remaining arm to hold his twin daughters close.
MBC’s ‘Oh Eun Young Report – Again, Love’ touched viewers’ hearts with a story of a family supporting one another through the depths of despair.
In the second part of MBC’s ‘Oh Eun Young Report – Again, Love’ aired on the 25th, the show shared the story of a husband who lost both legs and his left arm in a sudden dump truck accident, and the wife who became his strength and support. ‘Again, Love’ is a special two-part program produced by the team behind the highly acclaimed ‘Human Documentary Love.’
The accident that shattered the couple’s lives was horrific. While riding his bicycle, the husband collided with a dump truck that suddenly turned right and was pulled underneath the vehicle. Recalling the moment, he said, “My arm got caught in the tire and I was sucked in along with the bike. I could hear my bones crushing.” He added, “I felt death approaching and told my wife and children that I loved them and was sorry, but I narrowly survived.”

After being rushed to the hospital by helicopter, he underwent a grueling seven-hour surgery. His wife recalled the devastation, saying, “I could only think of the worst-case scenarios, like him being in a vegetative state or completely paralyzed. I just prayed for him to stay alive.”
Although he regained consciousness, the husband fell into deep despair upon realizing he had lost three limbs. He confessed, “I wondered how I could possibly live without my arms and legs. Looking at the funeral hall outside the hospital window, I thought I’d rather be there.”
Life changed completely after the accident. The husband had to leave his job and is currently relying on his severance pay. While the wife is doing everything she can for his rehabilitation, she couldn’t hide her anxiety regarding living expenses and the cost of prosthetic limbs, which amount to tens of millions of won. The husband’s mother also sold her home to provide care, traveling between the hospital and her son’s house.
A particularly emotional moment that brought many viewers to tears was the reunion between the father and his young twin daughters three months after the accident. Seeing their father’s condition, the children didn’t hesitate to give him a tight hug. The second daughter, usually bright and cheerful, shared her hidden feelings, saying, “Daddy was so good to me before. I feel sad when I think of him.” Hearing this from outside the door, the parents burst into tears.

Psychiatrist Dr. Oh Eun Young diagnosed both the husband and wife with PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and emphasized the need for treatment. Dr. Oh explained, “Trauma is not something that is overcome simply by enduring it,” and offered heartfelt comfort to the husband, saying, “You are focusing on what you’ve lost, but your warmth and kindness toward your family still remain.”
She also advised that the children need a process of accepting their father’s injuries and prosthetics by seeing and touching them. The sight of the children gently touching their father’s wounds with smiles brought a wave of emotion to the audience.
The broadcast was praised for proving once again how faith and love for one another can be a powerful force for recovery even in the midst of extreme pain, reminding everyone of the meaning of “true love.”
