Heo Nam-jun is currently starring in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama Brave New World, a romantic comedy about a notorious villainess from the Joseon era who wakes up 300 years later as an unknown actress, Shin Seo-ri (Lim Ji-yeon). The show has seen its ratings climb for four consecutive episodes, reaching a personal best of 6% (Nielsen Korea).
The real charm of Brave New World is that the leads start in a “hate relationship,” with both characters embodying “evil” instead of typical romance. Heo Nam-jun plays Cha Segye, the direct grandson of the chairman of the chaebol Cha-il Group. Described as a “monster created by capitalism,” his character is frequently involved in power-trip controversies and would likely be seen as a villain if this weren’t a romance.

Heo Nam-jun identified “immaturity” as the core of Cha Segye’s journey toward learning true love. Through his agency, he told Ilgan Sports, “At first, while the character is set to look perfect, I focused on the gaps and fragile points hidden inside.” He also teased, “As the drama unfolds, you’ll see many more human and warm moments.”

Crediting the production team and fellow actors for the positive reception, Heo Nam-jun shared, “I will continue to act with sincerity to repay the support we’ve received. Please keep enjoying the rest of the story until the end.”
