Jang Dong-min Sparks Heated Debate After Criticizing 'Resting' Youth for Only Wanting Big Company Jobs

A post titled “Jang Dong-min Criticizing 2030 ‘Resting’ Youth” is currently going viral across online communities.

This stems from a scene in the Wavve original variety show “Betting on Fact,” where the cast played a game to determine the truth behind the topic “2030 Korean men choosing Japan as an option for employment and marriage.”

During the show, Jang Dong-min argued, “It makes no sense to say that people can’t find jobs.” He based this on his own hiring experiences, stating, “When job postings are released, there are no applicants from the 2030 generation. Only those in their 40s and 50s apply.”

When another cast member pointed out that this is due to a preference for office jobs at large corporations, Jang Dong-min agreed. However, he also criticized the attitude of some young people, saying, “They just don’t want to work.”

He further gave some tough love, asking, “Do you think it’s easy to make money working under someone else?” and “Who actually enjoys working?” Based on the logic that there are plenty of jobs in Korea, Jang Dong-min judged the news about youth moving to Japan as “fake.”

As these remarks have recently come to light, netizens are locked in a heated debate.

Some agree, commenting, “It’s true that the expectations of young people have become too high,” and “There are plenty of jobs if you actually look. They aren’t ‘resting,’ they’re just playing.” On the other hand, others countered, “Most jobs have terrible conditions and treatment, why would anyone want to work just anywhere?” and “If you look at the job postings for Jang Dong-min’s own company, they only hire experienced workers with 5 years of experience.”
